Made this set for my dad

My pops is getting old and can't do stuff anymore so he gave me two big buckets of spare parts that he has collected over his life.  There was all sorts of crap in those buckets  from screws bolts, nuts, lamp shade topper things, door stops, paint tips and anything else you can imagine you'd find in someone's junk drawers.  So I got bored and decided to make him a chess set out of the parts.  I did have to add my own parts bucket to the mix and ransack my attic for the king pieces but here's the result in it's current condition.  I still have to change a few things and I'm going to add a colored gem to all the pieces that don't have one already,  that was the only non spare part part of both sets.Thepicturesreallydon'tdojusticebutwhatever.

What do you think? I'm open to constructive criticism!

The pieces all need a bath and a polish, and not to self... You can't solder in below zero temperature.
