Mechanics institute set

Hi to all the nice folks in the books & equipment forum! Classiest category going for sure. I have been considering the purchase of a Mechanics institute set from the House of Staunton. Does anybody have pictures of theirs that they may not have posted? Any information on the set would be cool. I would love to see some detailed photos of the knights and kings especially. Also do the kings come with multiple finials?

Nic, the HOS Mechanics Institute pieces are a faithful reproduction of an historic set. The design is uniquely funky. The pieces are heavily weighted and enormously fun to play with. The kings come with crosses, pictured here, and flat hats, which was the historical configuration. Here are some photos I took this morning for you...

And for an extra touch of whimsy.

Wow thanks a million to Chuck and to Lou. These pics are incredible. I will certainly have to pull the trigger on this set when I've saved enough. Do you think the pieces are better in ebonized or in golden rosewood? Thanks again for the pics. I have a much clearer idea of what I am buying now.
