As it is with many things in life, I personally learn much better from having a book in my hand and physical objects. I guess this is symptomatic of being from the generation I was raised within. While I do avail myself to most of the technology which surrounds me, it seems things just 'take' firmer in my mind with 3-D, as opposed to Digital. I've no doubt a younger person might feel the exact opposite.

I think I entered the digital world by using Chessable. There I have the possibility  to learn  by spaced repetition.
