Really, the set is a very nice one.
And the only problem that I see is there are some, including me, that don't like the color being so yellow.
To be honest this is the kind of butter that makes me sick just watching it !

How buttery yellow is it? So much so, it'll raise your cholesterol level by 10 points!
Kind of like white chocolate. Lindt not that Toblerone garbage.

I've never tried Toblerone, but I like Lindt. Thanks for the warning about Toblerone, Ronbo.
I suppose they're a little yellowish, but I love them.
I agree. This new version handles and plays the best of any plastic set I have ever seen.
More to the point, what do your do with 3000 yellow chess sets? Why not do an equal run of blue sets. If anyone complains you can tell them you're patterning the set after this $2,300 set from CapeLux.
Heck, even a company as prestigious as Noj in Slovenia offers a portable blue chessboard!
Personally, I'd like to see this set available in Ivory, Cream, Yellow, Red, Blue, & Tan (a woodlike hue). Wouldn't mind a special run of Burgundy and perhaps a green for Christmas (or St. Patties Day).

To be more precise I am from Brittany, were butter is king.
And I swear if i find a butter of this color in the fridge, it goes directly to the trash can, period.
@PhillipTheTank :
Nice photo pal ! In fact the yellow looks better on your bordeaux/white board.
That set looks good on that board Phillip.
I concur. That set works surprisingly well with that board.
Problem with sharp and bright colors like yellow is they dazzle the eyes during play. Neutral colors are better for playing chess.
Not really a problem with this set. They don't dazzle. They're just more yellow than people wanted.

The above quote is wrong.
This is tedious. Can he be blocked or whatever now?
@loubalch
Yellow / blue set is nice but quite flashy !
Some years ago when Fritz 10 came out, I found the white/red set quite sexy.
But to be honest I think nothing works better than the classic beige/ebony combo.
Bright color can distract chess players. From my experience of playing with hundreds of chess sets, the best ones are vintage jaques as the older a chess set is the less light it reflects. Bobby Fischer was also aware of this. Some of the plastic chess sets sold nowadays are too shiny and glossy for practical chess.
I have to give you credit. There's no one else on this forum who can say so little of worth with so many words. It's impressive.
Would that be whole wheat toast?
