Official Staunton Overstamped Leuchars set

First impression: really lovely 3.5" set, nicer than OS's 3.5"library set, w/ good attention to detail. On some sets you'll find little imperfections like top of the rooks left unfinished, but not w/ this set. Flawless, from what I've seen so far. I'll post more thoughts once I've had a chance to play w/ the set.

Beautiful set Frank, thanks for all the wonderful pics. Those Knights are really something special. Kudos to Carl for another great reproduction.

yes, those knights are really something, aren't they? I played a couple of games w/ my son and the set is such a joy to play w/. My son's comment when he saw the set for the first time: BOSS. That about sums it up...

WOW FACTOR. Beauty of a set and you get the new weighting system to boot. Beautifully finished, great antiquing. Gotta love that stamp on the King. It's good to be the King.

Yes, a nice looking set, clearly the turning is form tooling and not very sharp.
I doubt these day labourers will ever achieve the crispness of the master turners of the 19th c.

Great set, Frank.
There must be some distortion somewhere along the line because the pictures on my computer screen show collar rings that aren't parallel, and that just cannot be.
RC mentioned the antiquing. How do you like it?
Is that Drueke a 2" board?

must be some lense effect. As for the antiquing, it's very well done. And the board is a 2.25" board.

You've got an astute son there Frank. That set looks gorgeous indeed. Smallish but broad based designs are so nice to play with.

Thank you Robert,
It is a problem as I have thousands of rare chess designs stored in the google cloud and I should just be able to post the link to give people access but it just doesn't work for anyone but me.
Let me go see if I can change the access to public or something.

it's the lighting... the set looks fine, it's my camera.
