Old boards from chess club Bern

@brasileirosim - this is a wonderful story. Europe is such a treasure trove of beautiful old boards and pieces … I love story of the restaurant and you finding the boards and then the bargain price as they were going to a good home … if I was local I’d buy you a beer just to see the boards and here about your collection! Good luck with downsizing your collection - Australia is generally too far away to make transactions on heavy items like boards worthwhile (I.e fright costs etc…) but it’s wonderful to read the stories and see how much deeper European chess sets run than here on our distant island continent.

Thanks!
I just came home right now with some interesting items I found. One is a Chess Champion Swiss Looping clock. The price seemed quite high for me (69), but I quickly found out that the market price is something between 500 and 800!! One clock begins to work and stops again after some seconds. Otherwise in perfect condition and with box, but without papers. Funnily, a similar clock was sold recently in Ricardo (kind of Swiss eBay) for a similar price!

I bought also two books on chess psychology, one by R. Munzert, the other by Reuben Fine (German edition). The most interesting book is “My System easy”, a modernized/digested edition of Nimzovitsch’s famous book by H. Brunthaler. I wanted already to purchase this book but I decided that I have enough books. I really like this edition, much easier to read (I like Nimzowitsch’s humor, but it makes difficult for the reader to focus on the explanations).

Love that board. If you have any interest in shipping and selling up someone in the USA, I’d pay a very fair price.

Thanks. I will once begin to sell part of my collection, as I have too much stuff. However, I still have to decide how to do this, as I would like to sell in a more systematic way. Perhaps on eBay. I have a Solora clock, a Garde Electronic clock to sell, and perhaps I will sell my Novag Adversary, as computers are not the focus of my collection.  And many other things. Also books. I will let you know.

By the way, Torrubirubi and brasileirosim are the same person. No, I was not banned for cheating 😊I just did a break from chess.com and when I came back I decide to use another nickname, not knowing that the account would change!

Thanks, but this is not the kind of stuff I am collecting. Main focus in my collection is wooden sets, most of them European, mainly Staunton.
