Post your favorite plastic chess sets(not for snobists)

I'm really a fan of plastic chess sets (yeah, I know) on different types of colors boards,(vynil, mouse pads, etc). I even like wood sets on vynil boards. Post your favorite plastic chess set on your favorite non expensive board.

Its strange that wooden pieces on vinyl/plastic mouse pad boards dont bother me , I even think they look ok but I cant stand to see plastic pieces on a nice wooden board .  Am I the only one ?  Nice set above .

I hear ya Reb..! Plastic pieces on a wood board don't cut it with me as well. They look fine on a vinyl board though.

I also do not like plastc pieces on a wood board.  It just does not look right to me.  I know there are some that have it this way but to each their own tastes.

On the other hand I like the looks of a wood set on a vinyl board, especially green as the dark squares.  My Noj sets with Walnut and Maple look very nice on the green and buff vinyl boards.  That is what you see in a lot of the pictures of Fischer and his set.

Wood pieces on a wood board is also naturally a nice thing.

My favorite plastic set is my 3.75 inch HOS Collector, as shown in this post ---->>

Here in Spain the omnipresent set is the iberian staunton in plastic.

Really well balanced. The design is also my favourite.

Very nice pieces. I love seeing a set for the first time. Are they weighted?

My favorite is still my Dubrovnik. Solid peices with a great look and feel.

Very cool setup M_L Cool It's one of the only other plastic sets we'd consider buying. There was a previous thread somewhere that linked to where they were available for purchase. Can't find it at the moment. Maybe you could share that link as well.

I think they are not. The complete set is about 600gr.

Easy to get it by internet: http://www.reinoajedrez.com/tienda/chess-pieces-600gr-p-225.html

or even ebay.

I just got my son a Play Magnus set, I'm not sure if anyone on here has seen it but the plastic pieces it comes with are amazing.  The felt on the bottom of the pieces matches their color, they are nicely weighted (maybe about half the weight of the HoS Marshall plastic set?), and they have a really nice German Knight.  Quality is also great, a nice mat finish.  You can read about them here: http://magnuscarlsen.com/product/chess-set-and-board

I'll post a review of them tomorrow comparing them to the other sets I have (standard European Staunton No6 tournament set, HoS Marshall, and standard Club set you see for sale everywhere).

Looking forward to seeing more images of these... any mold lines on the pieces?  Don't turn the mold lines away from the camera lens, if they are visible.  Looks like an interesting design.

Here's my favourite plastic chess set.

I actually tracked this down at my parents place recently because i remeber loving the design of the knight as a kid when we played with this set.

I recently acquired a weighted Lardy staunton boxwood/rosewood set, and while I love the weight and feel of the wooden pieces I've always thought I'd eventually spring for a better quality set. However perusing the various choices online I'm just not satisfied with any of the carved knights. I grabbed a hold of this old plastic set (which actually looks a lot more like wood than many modern plastic pieces) to get my hands on the knight to see if i could find a carver who could reproduce the knight design in wood for me.
