pieces for my variants : http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess960-chess-variants/new-variants-using-common-pieces-amongst-them
Here are my pieces for my board. I'm still working on it. The board is just layed together. So I still have to make it. The game is set up as the first game type. I am doing a complex staggered design. Currently it is just a slightly raised stagger on the light tiles, in the third and fourth pics. Till the couple hundred different height wood blocks are done being made. To make it look like the first 2 pics. The tile in the pic below might go for a secound board, or placed on top of the wood. Not sure which yet. The board is below the 3-D drawings. Pieces are below that. I'll upload a finished pic when it is all done. Hopefull by the end of next week.
From left to right they represent:
Phoenix--Archer--Executioner--Bishop--Battering Ram--Cardinal
Dragon--Barricade(Fortess)--Rook--High Gaurd--Cannon--Tower
Fool(Jester)--Lord(Lion)--Princess--Prince
Gambit--Jack--Slave--Pawn
Still working on modding the tops of these. Pawn top going on a Paladin, Jack top on templars, and gambit top on magician. Some are set in the whole board photo.
Magician--Unholy Paladin--Templar Assassin--Knight

Well, well, welL! Would you look at that!
Your variant is finally a physical reality. Congradulations!
How much in price, if I may ask? =)

Or for free as a program, just follow the link. Just finished laying the games out for the program, after H.G.Muller finished modding winboard for me. I will be selling the board when finished for $500. All the pieces come with it free as a gift. I just receiced the 250+ wooden blocks to stagger it. The board should be done by Monday, or Tuesday. I'll post pics again then, of it all finished. In a several different game layouts.

That is stone tile. The wood is to stagger it. So it is all the same type of wood. You can not see it. The board is over 2 and a half feet square. With blocks to stagger 2in x 2in. (1 7/8 really at 16x16) Ranging from 1/8 - 1 3/4 thickness. So I went pine for lightness. Beasuse it is still very heavy, for a game board. At over three times the thicknees and four times the square inches. making it weigh 12 times what a 8x8 normal one would weigh. If I used hard wood.

No, you didn't.
When I asked about wood of the "board", I wasn't necessarily just asking about the board. You answered "pine" for negative tiles, but the point of fact is that the pieces, as you admit, are also made of wood.
Are you saying that black pieces are pine that's dyed a darker brown?

Boxwood and sheesham, sorry. The spacers are pennies in the one pic. I have most everything set together. I just need the border finished as well as the base. Which I might not use. Then stain the bottom spacers in a checkers pattern. So you can flip it over for a smooth board. Not sure.
Here is an older Jaques clone from India that I got for a song in boxwood and ebony over a decade ago. Seller seems to have disappeared completely although he might have morphed into one of the companies we see today.
