Thanks f-a, I appreciate your feedback - along with everyone else's too. Much appreciated. Yes, I am addicted... and it feels OK.
The board was part of a combination set (pieces and board) from CB - the 2016 Bridle Knight Series. (See post #1097 for a description on that purchased - my first ever.) From the CB website - here are the specs of the board:
Chess Board Material: Sheesham Wood / Ebony Wood
Dimensions: Board - 23" x 23" / (58.4 cm x 58.4 cm)
Square - 2.4" x 2.4" / (60 mm x 60 mm)
Board Thickness - 0.9" / 22 mm
Weight : 5500 grams (194 oz)
Once again - caveat - I have nothing to compare this board too. Due to lockdown, I was not able to visit a chess shop - my experience with chess pieces and boards to date is what I have received in the two purchases noted in this thread. I make that point that so people do not mistake me for any kind of expert.
The board is lovely. Actually quite beautiful. A very close up inspection shows some interesting joins and fills. Here are some close up pictures. I try to be objective in anything I write so if I am looking for faults - in the wrong light - and I mean I have to go looking - there are some buff marks. Almost like it has been sanded back, polished, sanded back but the polish is wearing thin... I am no wood-worker - I have no idea - but I have tried to show that in the photos too. Again, to the naked eye - it is almost imperceptible - I have to go looking and get the right light and there are two patches where this occurs. See second last photo and last photo - same squares.
In short - the board exceeded my expectations when I took it out of the well protected box/packaging. My wife and I love it.
One day I covet one of those magnificently crafted boards and/or chess tables that I have seen in other parts of this forum but for now - I am delighted by this board. I guess the real proof of the pudding is in how it lasts overtime and I'll be keeping a keen eye on that to be sure.

Powderdigit (makes me think of Cheetos dust)
I don't think that I've ever seen Queen's with a stacked coronet before. Took a look at their page and it appears that the major pieces are wearing a turtleneck. If it gives your ninjas extra power that's a good thing. Very nice marbling textures on the board. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Alleenkatze, appreciate the response and your refined language - "stacked coronet" sounds so much better and more accurate than my 'double-crown' clumsiness. On the turtleneck - once again - another part of the attraction in my initial purchase. Indeed, I can almost picture a cunning bishop with collar upturned... planning a devious move.

Well said Powder...well said. I have found that it matters most what pleases you and not so much the acceptance of others, except for family and close friends. Visuals and touch play important roles, but like a wife, familiarity leads to those tender loving feelings.

Time to share my own chess sets! Here is my favorite one

This is my favorite chess set which I own. However, this one is also very cool (although I do not have it) https://www.radicaln.com/products/radicaln-handmade-marble-fossil-coral-and-white-marble-full-chess-game-original-marble-chess-set

Mexican Drueke? Recently got this one off of Etsy. The set was made in Mexico. Hence the name and design of the set.

Here is a more humble set. My good old trusty wood set and clock. It is simple but I love its worn look.
love that set!!!!

Just wanted to share this board I designed and made for myself a few years back.
Blue/black Welsh slate with the natural slate being the black squares and the white squares inlaid with palladium leaf (it doesn't tarnish like silver leaf).
The Greek key I designed myself and is inlaid with 23.5 carat gold leaf.
The legend on either side of the board is taken from Percy Bysshe Shelly's poem, 'Ozymandias' and is also finished in gold leaf.
I hope you like it.
A chess drinking game. Cool.
