Queen's Gambit

I've signed up for the Chess.com Queen's Gambit Thematic Tournament.  When I search Amazon, there's a crap ton of books on the Queen's Gambit opening (plus the subset of Queen's Gambit Declined).  As an English speaking middling chess player who hasn't studied openings before, is there a book recommendation you'd make for me for the Queen's Gambit?  Or is there a (free) PDF that you'd recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe try First Steps: Queen's Gambit

Thanks for the recommendation.  Having First Steps in the title probably means it's aimed more at me than a book called Grandmaster's Guide.  Also, since the book is available for the Kindle, I can download a sample and see if I can use the (much cheaper) electronic version of the book.

How to beat 1.d4 is advanced but it's a good repertoire to build eventually

There is a new book by Tibor Karolyi on the queen's gambit for black, I haven't looked through it but the Karolyi's books I have are great.
