Hello,
1) There are about usually two pages instruction in Russian followed by exercises. I would say more of a puzzle book than an instruction book. With Yandex translation, you will have no problem regarding the language.
2) I believe that case to be true. The book you mention is the "Intensive Course Tactics" CD that was published by ChessBase in print format. It has 4.267 positions. Renko's 5 volume series is his lifetime work; a very valuable one. I am sure that some or even all of these 4.267 positions may be in the 5 volume series but the series has about 20.000 positions so it is a problem at all for me.
3) People tend to mention it to be between beginner to 2000. Since I am not a 2000 player my comment would be meaningless but I enjoy the work as a trainer. Lots of exercises.
Renko's series is a high quality work. It is like Ivanchenko's series but has much more number of examples and harder exercises. Try the first one and then continue if you like it. Renko has been under the radar but it definetely is due to its quality. I find it to be a hidden gem. There are of course other books for tactics.
Take care,
Hello all,
I have few questions regarding the 5 volume series "Anatomy of chess combinations - George Renko"
1) In Amazon's description it claims it is in Russian but how much usefull text does those series contain? Are those books just puzzle books or they contain text with instructions and lessons as well?
Does it make sense to buy them if i don't speak Russian?
2) I've read on this forum that "Encyclopedia of Chess Combinations" is actually stolen work from George Renko and Renko decided to publish his work independently.
Now i am not sure if this is true or not, but i would like to ask you if there is any correlation between Encyclopedia of Chess Combinations and Renko's 5 volume series?
3)What rating (FIDE) do you think that the Anatomy of chess combinations by George Renko is suitable for?
Additionaly if you have any information regarding those series please let me know
Thank you very much for your answers in advance.
