I read "King's Gambit: A Son, A Father, and the World's Most Dangerous Game" by Paul Hoffman not too long ago and found it fascinating, and easily the most entertaining book I have read in years. It is not an instructional book but more of a memoir of a man and his relationship with his father and his return to chess after years of not playing. The premise may sound silly, but after a few pages I was hooked. The chapter on "The Grobsters" was downright frightening, and the portions with Kasparov and Nigel Short are good as well.
