Are you just reading the title? Come on!...
"The event is open to all players"
P.S.
I might be lying. Read on and learn the truth...

Ok

Why do chess GMs generally seem okay with Chess960, but not Seirawan Chess (S-Chess)? Seems like folks who've really nailed regular chess might naturally want a tougher challenge that shakes things up, right but hold your horses. Seriously, why are they so against trying new pieces ?

A quality game should have few rules and exceptions. Adding new pieces and rules to chess won't make it better. They will all be short-lived. The final state chess will reach is Chess960. Perhaps Chess324 will follow suit. These are entirely my personal observations and opinions. Therefore, they should be taken into consideration.

Why doesn't Kaufman Random Chess get more love? 960 can be such a mess, right.

Might not a piece embodying the qualities of both knight and king offer a more judicious alternative to the hawk, so as to temper the often-frenetic pace of the game ?

It is "Nordlandia Chess"...

I assume that such a piece will make the game more positionally charged, among other things. The hawk is fierce, the "centaur" is always restricted by the knight gait.
