Recommendation Chessnut Go + Chessconnect

Until now, I have always played at home using my DGT SmartBoard in conjunction with Chessconnect and Lichess. When I'm on the go, the combination of board and notebook is too big.

I would like to purchase a Chessnut Go and play via mobile phone and Chessconnect and Lichess.

My questions:

In your experience, does this combination work well?

Is ordering from Germany straightforward, and what do I need to bear in mind?

Many thanks for your constructive answers.

I got a Chessnut Go a few weeks ago and I’ve been really happy with it. I use it to play outside on my patio in the evening using the Chessconnet app on a cheapie Android tablet. I only play on Lichess, so I can’t speak to Chess.com connectivity , but I’ve had no problems whatsoever. I think the board is nicely designed and built considering the price. Just be aware that the LEDs can be difficult to see in very bright conditions.

Hello Bodycarts

That sounds great. Thank you for your quick reply.

Since I started using Chessconnect (many thanks to Jörn), playing chess on a real board has become much more fun, whether I'm playing against bots or training with my own studies on Lichess.

I love my Chessnut Go. I utilize it with mobile apps, chessconnect, and Lucas Chess - depending upon what I am doing. I plan on getting the Chessnut Pro at a later date, hopefully.

Mister, you will get your "Go" at the speed of light—reason, for EU/US, the main warehouse is exactly in Germany, moreover, you'll get it without any additional taxes. Board is integrated super with anything, instant reactivity. Only one catch—do not keep anything metal close to it, or it's lights could go "disco".

Chessconnect is not an efficient and workable app. Chessnut has its own app which is very good and provides grear and fast connection within seconds.

Absolutely not true. Only who didn't used computer before. Strange post.

For "Chessnut" default app—true!! It's (very) good, with astonishing range of features. "Chessvision" included, as with "Evo". And, ofc, "MAIA".

Thank you very much, now I know what will be under my Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.

And yes, metal and electronic chessboards are a no-go! Same with DGT.

Unfortunately, that didn't answer my question. Please spare me your comments on this topic in the future.

Hello, @Johann960 - While I love my Go, the pieces are a bit small. It is a true "travel" board/set. Great to take it to the pub or throw in a backpack for an outing. As long as you understand the size, you plan is great.

The board is great, works well. The Chessconnect app is great and works very well with all the Chessnut products, as well as other e-boards (not all, but most).

In addition, Jörn is working all the time to improve and add more to the product. There is also lots of support from those of us that use it regularly as well as the developer.

I think you will be happy with the combination, with the caveat above on the piece size.

After all the kind and helpful comments, I've made my decision. Christmas is “Chessnut Go time.”
Thank you all very much, and I wish you a wonderful weekend.

My comments do not seek to satisfy questions here or there and are always meant fot everyone. Chessconnect is not a competent app and is absolutely unnecessary as Chessnut has its own iphone and android apps which unlike chessconnect are very fast and user-friendly and 100% free!
