Reproduction and Real Jaques of London Chess Set

We’re thinking 1850 London

Hi Carl, You seem to have created a very collectible set in your own right. People can talk about reproductions all they want, but the set you are making here will be a collectible on its own.
Are you taking orders now? Thanks for your tireless effort to supply the highest quality chess pieces.

Chessisafight, thank you for sharing this picture...the quintessential Jaques set from the Golden Age of Chess.

Update - the Jaques Knights are finally completed - delighted with them
Spectacular, Carl. When will the sets be for sale?

thanks so much 😊 by end February or sooner hopefully 🙏
I agree Carl, the Knights are rather spectacular looking. Let's hope you don't %*#K the set up by "antiquing" them.
I'd have only two questions:
1) What are the size/s the sets will be offered in?? Is it too much to hope for that they would be offered in 4.0" and 4.4" -- both Club Size sets.
2) Will they be WEIGHTED? There are a lot of people out there who can not use UNWEIGHTED sets.
Me? I would REFUSE to buy any "REPRODUCTION" set that would be "ANTIQUED" that is not a CLUB SIZED set of at least 4.0" or 4.4", and is UNWEIGHTED. The next question that everyone is dying to know is HOW MUCH are you going to be asking for these sets?

Hi azbobcat -
This collection is an exact reproduction of my personal Jaques 1849/50 chess set featuring a 3.5-inch king. I entrusted the set to my workshop for precise duplication of the original.
Out of the 30 sets produced, 5 will remain unweighted, while the remaining sets will be weighted with felt and lozenge. Each set will be accompanied by a label.
Priced at approximately £549, we believe this is a fair and competitive cost for an authentic Jaques replica. We take pride in being the pioneers in replicating such an historic Jaques set directly from an original physical specimen
