Same here. I dropped from 2970 to 2010, and correct puzzles give me +2 points

It wasn't a direct rating translation. The new rating was based on past performances on previous puzzles and their updated ratings. Two players with similar ratings could have different results based on their unique history.

Yep, they ran all of your attempts again to recalculate the score. The score now is much more accurate than before because you're not getting a minimum of 5 points just for getting a puzzle right, even if the puzzle was rated far lower than the other one you just got right. That's what caused the inflation. This is the best possible fix I can imagine because it is more based off skill and not at all based off of time. You also get a more realistic view of whether you are actually improving.
Note they ran everything and there is a nice bell curve now. Without cheating, it should be impossible to ever see scores in the tens of thousands, just like you never see ELOs like that. And those cheating attempts will be caught easier now too.

I have a bug on mobile where every time I open puzzles, the app thinks I'm doing them for the very first time and gives me hints for the first puzzle. And it doesn't even let me play a wrong move and gives me a few points for solving it.

In the app? If so, which one and what version?
Yes, in the Chess app. On Android, version 4.9.8-googleplay. I had reinstalled app and it set puzzle mode to "Collect Puzzle Points", which I don't think I had done before. I set the mode back to classic. But every time I clicked on Solve Puzzles, it would give me hints for the first puzzle. I fixed it for myself though. I just had to switch it back to "Collect Puzzle Points" mode and do a puzzle and then the hints went away for classic mode too.
