Whe black pieces are jura wood too? So, the pieces are stained.

Yes it's Jura boxwood. Black pieces are stained, of course I re-tinted the pieces with a water-based dye that I also use for leather. It works very well. After drying I add a wax of my own making, beeswax + turpentine essence, you don't need to put a lot. After a few minutes, I rub them with a soft cloth to get that beautiful shine.

I prefer waxed pieces to varnished ones. But this is a personal taste.

It was more difficult to take of varnish on white pieces, I don't know why.
And also the defects are much more visible. Ideally, I would need to have a wood-turning lathe, and be able to turn the pieces to really do a very fine sanding for the finish. I have a flaw: I am a perfectionist, I am rarely satisfied! tongue
