I can't seem to get enough of smaller sets these days. It feels like an entirely new world to explore. That's a stunner...

Yep. As an added bonus the boards are cosier and easier to keep all over the house.

Not my actual set. I bought this for my father after he taught me chess and I envisioned playing often with him. We only played once and life took over. We never played again and the set I purchased was lost somewhere. I purchased this from eBay after my dad's death this year. I need to find a place to set it up again

It looks like the Classic Games Roman set from the early to mid 1960s. Their 1776 or "Washington" bicentennial set has been calling my name for a while. I'm trying my best not to start delving into the world of plastic chess sets but between that and the Cavalier 1491, I'm not sure how long I can hold out.

I once purchased a roman brass metal chess set. The design was quite fancy and the figurines are quite similar to the ones being advertised by peter8066, but mine was copper brown and gold.
The set got quite untidy after some time and sold them off at scrap value.
A small Drueke set. With so little discipline, I can't claim to have an everyday set, but with so little room, I keep this one to hand every day. It's nicely made and fun to use.

@oldquaker
Drueke Plastic is a beautiful design. I love how clean and simple the pieces are . Knights are easy to hold and play well. Your mini set is very nice. What size is it. Is it commercially available?
Agreed, Drueke plastic sets are aesthetically pleasing and fun to play with. I don't know if this smaller size is still made or not. I got this one off Ebay several years ago. It's just a smaller version of the tournament size I've had since the 80's. 2 1/2 in. king.

My grandfather had that set and it was the set of choice when I was a kid playing relatives at my grandparents' house on vacation / holidays.
Never seen it anywhere else - and definitely a nice memory of games with my father and grandfather (who are both gone). Thanks for posting!
[PS: those pawns and knights can also put a whoopin' on some little green army men]

Just purchased a Staunton design chessmen set with a rosewood board. Will share pics once they "arrive".

It's that time of year again. Here's my everyday set for at least the next few weeks.
DGT FIDE pieces on a 50mm World Chess walnut and maple board.
Some nice chess boards and sets in this thread. Will be referring to them for my purchase.
