Show us your everyday chess set

@M_Chavez
I remember seeing similar designed chess boards on some of the Jacques Staunton Books. It did not have the molded edges as yours but sure did similar carving designs besides the squares.
Anyways it's a nice acquisition.

Pawnerai's shot from the previous page (I hate when my post makes a new page!):
Very nice, @Pawnerai. Now you just need to jump on that trimmed vinyl board bandwagon!
Was in the mood to break out the Raikislai set today. Will leave it out for a few days.
It still is such a nice set, wow... Do you happen to have a 2" JLP board (or other, natural, maple-walnut board) that you could show it off on?

My original posting shows it on 2" wood (maple, leopard) at:
https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/my-oleg-raikis-commission-has-arrived-the-raikislai-series-chess-pieces
Other than that 2" wood board my other wood boards are:
2.25, 2.17 (55mm), and a 1.5 board.
Got a sweet 1.75" Drueke coming in next week, which should complete my Quadfecta of sizes.
If green and white doesn't float your boat, how about the Red&Black? Courtesy of the Legendary @ShelbyLohrman. Hah!
Unpacked this and thought I'd leave it out for a while. It's a little tight on the board but still bearable. I like these old Cavalier plastic sets.

Latest combination.
Is that a Lardy on a vintage games board? … nice match up whatever it is. 👍

Inspired by Bamboo58 above… I took a couple of photos of my the Lardy yesterday arvo and then, the Romanian-Hungarian pieces in the dim morning light, just now.
The board that the R-H pieces sit upon is my favourite - I intended to refurbish it and perhaps sell it - but I don’t want too - the board is solid and the frame is slightly deeper that than checkerboard and thus sits slightly above the surface and the hollow underneath means the pieces make the most wonderful thud/doonk sound when moved! I know this all sounds weird but it’s oddly satisfying! 🤦♂️😊

Hi @Greenmiller,
Thanks for your feedback. The Lardy king is 3.5”. It’s funny how tastes change - when I first started collecting - I was attracted to intricate knights and now … I love simplicity of design. In truth, I like most wooden pieces! 🤦♂️ Old sets like the Lardy, the Dogface - it’s hard to explain but there’s something quite wonderful about them… a newer set that is comparable is Biro’s Romanian-Hungarian - I think that set is simple and wonderful too; a well weighted, timeliness design.
Chess Bazaar 'Bohemia' pieces on a melamine board. If I'm traveling I bring a roll-up board, but I like to use this one at home. I re-felted the pieces in red. I love the aggressive knights and the sturdy finial on the king. The whole set is a nice hybrid of Dubrovnik tops and Staunton bases.
