As promised, my new set just arrived! This is the Conquest 4” Series from Staunton Castle. I love it! This is my first set purchase and i couldn’t be happier or more satisfied with it. Due to the pandemic, it took a bit longer and when asked Mandeep was always available with an update. Once the shop was able to reopen Mandeep was true to his word about shipping and delivery. The set was very well packaged and arrived in top shape. Here are a few pictures. (My apology to @TheOneCalledMichael, my photography skills are poorer than my playing ability!) I’ll post more pics later, iCloud issues this morning.

Dam that's nice, really like your board too. Be good to see some close ups. Congrats

Congrats! Having a set like that is definitely one of my goals to save up for.

Nice set! It is very beautiful and it matches the board you made.

Nice set but I think the board steals the show in this combo. Do you have other SC sets? Is it as well balanced as his other sets? One of the things I most like about SC is the weight and solid feel of the sets I own or used.

Thank you! I’ll post more pictures later, a bit technically challenged today.

I appreciate the comments! This is my first real set and yes, the weight of the pieces is perfect! They feel very well balanced. I’d recommend this set and Staunton Castle to anyone.

Very niceee mister Wits! Congratz! And what a gorgeous board too! I'd say those beautiful classic looking set suits perfectly on that board. Fwiw, your pics looks thousands times better then my skill making a board happy.png If I may say something, such beautiful set deservers a classic looking analogue clock on the side wink.png

edit: did I see it right? Your horsies has long draped manes on one side? I've never seen such horsies before, could you post pics of some angles of the horsies? I'm intrigued by it.

@Wits-end   Very nice set!

How did you inset the top play area board into the bottom border board? Is it dropped in and floating in there with silicone adhesive for wood movement?

If I may make a photo request... Is it possible to take a photo of the pieces on the board during a game? I'd love to see how the pieces interact on the board. Not just lined up. Thanks!

For those interested here is the thread where @Wits-end post while making the board all the way to when he got his wood. I believe pg6 is where most pics begin though.

Updated information: the King height and base width advertised is 4” x 1.85”. The delivered h x w is just about as close to spot on when measured with my calipers, less than 0.10” difference, amazing! The first board shown has squares of 2.23”, recommended size is 2.25”. The second board is slightly smaller with squares of 2.0”.

BTW-Boxwood and ebonized boxwood.

The weight is finely balanced throughout all pieces and have a very comfortable feel in my hands; solid, sturdy, and substantial. You know the feeling you get when you buy something relatively expensive and then pick it up and wonder “what is this hollow or filled with plastic?!” Well, not with this set, it feels more substantial than i expected. Even the felt pads are of better quality than i expected.

As i said before, this is my first “real” set. I realize i am not the collector as many here are, but i cannot be happier and more satisfied with this Staunton Castle Conquest Series set. And again, a very big thank you to Mandeep for his attention to customer service during the challenging times we all live with. More picture to follow.

Nice that long manes on one side on the horsies! I really like that. But you're showing off that gorgeous board again aren't you? Oh maaaan...what's wrong with you?!

Oh btw, I'm dutch so I don't like to spend money. That's why when I see other people spend their money to buy something beautiful, I can enjoy it for free and that makes me happy too happy.png
