I'd appreciate if you share the result of the match.
OK, I'm trying a 5 mint blitz 1st, see if it works.
Then I'll try something with more gravitas
oh ok. my computer's fan starts to make strange noises after a few minutes of 99% cpu consumption, because of that I can't test any engines, or use them with their full capacity.
It's a shame it's hard to find (I couldn't) a comprehensive list, including rybka, fire, houdini and stockfish.
Ok, it seems to be working. But I dont really know how to set up opening books for my engines, they play the weirdest opening moves. Mostly 1 Nf3, but also 1 c3, and in the 1st game Stockfish opened 1 h3 (and drew!)
Here's the Blitz result, I added Robolito too just to make it interesting:
Arena tournament

Thanks, 6 games is too little to be conclusive, but looks like houdini might be the best engine at the moment!

Yeah, and even Robolito was better than stockfish. But to be fair, quite a few losses were on time in dead even positions, eg K+R vs K+R
I just ran 6 games, each side with white 3 times. 1 Hour for each side. Houdini won 1 with white, and Stockfish won 1 with white. All others were draws.
Again, small sample, but it looks like Stockfish is much stronger in the 2.0 version. I'm going to run a few more and see what happens.
I just ran 6 more games, same parameters as before. This time Houdini won 1 game and drew 2 games as white. But Houdini won all 3 games as black!
So after 12 games, Houdini has 5 wins, Stockfish 1 win, and 6 draws.
Can anybody help me set up stockfish to not lose on time in Blitz?
It gets dead even positions, and the other engines just move randomly to run it down. I think it doesn't clain draws on the 50 move rule either?
I think draw at move 50 is about the GUI, not the engine. You should also be able to set the GUI to automatically draw the games after a certain move, like 200 or something, but I'm not sure if there won't be any won positions too, at such number of moves.
Or you can try playing with 1'' increments.
A couple of the draws I had were 50 move rule, but not on blitz. Plus, running the clock down is a perfectly acceptable strategy for humans and computers. One thing I noticed in the longer games was Houdini was much faster than Stockfish. So even during a completed game, Stockfish might have 5 minutes left, but Houding might have 15 minutes left. And certainly part of the strength of an engine is how quickly it can find its move.
IMO, stockfish should lose on time during blitz if it doesn't react fast enough. As far as the 50-move rule, it works for me using the Winboard GUI.
I'm busy running a tournament at these tiime controls:
40 moves in 90 minutes +30 minutes for remaining moves. It's going a little slow, as I do only 1 game per day (at night when I'm asleep) else my PC is very sluggish.
Surprisingly, for me at least, the current score is 3-2 in favour of Stockfish 2.0, 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss.

I watched the recent TCEC........indeed, Houdini showed itself to be the best engine by far. Rybka4 was second.............I believe Stockfish finished 3rd. I really liked how that tourny handled the openings/books.
Anybody else having issues with the new Stockfish crashing?
After it runs for a while minutes it crashes my PC, under both SCID and Arena. I've been trying for days to run a match against Houdini, and I never get past move 15.
I have no problems with any other engine, including version 1.8.
