Try Millenium. https://computerchess.com/us/Products/Chess-enthusiasts/. They have several. I have their Chess Genius Pro. It doesn't look good but it seems decently strong to a patzer like me. Other models are decent looking, at least.
Table top chess computers
Yes. And even with your fairly exalted ratings most will beat you handily at their higher ratings.
But I would recommend looking into an electronic board like the Chessnut Air or Chessnut Air+. They can do what you want but more. You would need to pair it up with a tablet or phone.
The Tabutronic Proelium is a relatively recent electronic chess computer, manufactured by italian Certabo: https://tabutronic.com/product/proelium/
The magnetic pieces don't require any pressing or manual confirmation, and it has 3-color LEDs (that highlight opponent's moves, suggestions, and alerts). The integrated chess clock supports official tournament time controls (base time + increment) and you can analyze your games. There is also a 2-player mode, and a built-in English-speaking voice tutor. The board can be powered via 4 AA batteries or directly via USB; besides, you can freely setup any custom position on the board and start playing from there. The playing strenght is over 2200 ELO. About the opening book, informations are not officially documented; on the Hiarcs forum there is a mention that it has an "opening book" but no specific details are provided. For more precise info about the opening book, I'd suggest to contact Mr. Pietro (the Certabo's CEO) directly, he's a very nice guy and will supply you all the required details. Ciao ![]()
Are there any commercially available chess computers that are decent? The kind that you can put on your kitchen table and move the pieces. Recommendations?
