Hi

I discovered this chess set and got one for the Black Friday.

https://shop.chess.com/nextgen-pawns-plastic-chess-pieces-3-75-king-colonel-variation/

The pieces are very well designed and i got there 2 different sets with different pawn designs. Got also extra Queens.

And thanks to chess.com shop and discount i paid less than 27$ for this set.
I also discovered that the manufacturer of this set have many different items including boards and other pieces (name just a few: Hawk !! , Leopard etc) i'm excited and i cannot wait to buy these pieces. Hope they are as good as what i got (i will just buy the Hawk and see the quality first)

Did someone knew about these pieces? Would you recommand to buy some?

Utterly awful.

this is your opinion we should respect. personally i find the pieces very beautiful. when playing with them i can handle them with ease. they Don't fall when playing crazy fast games, and they feel great at touch.

The new pawns are even better looking, and i just discovered also that i can customise some of them !

THESE look good to you? Seriously ...

Yes, i really love them. You have to try them. I live in Italy if ever we can meet i will show them to you. I'm in Napoli returning from a trip from USA.

I’m in agreement with sound67. But I’m a fan of standard styles.

But as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Good luck to you and hope you have fun.

I personally wouldn't buy them but if you like them. Get them and have fun with them. Now I have bought both the Hawk & Elephant along with Leopard & Cannon sets. I bought two sets of them. The reason is to play Xiangqi (Chinese Chess). It is easier to teach newcomers to Chinese Chess with Western Chess pieces instead of overwhelming them with the standard Chinese charactures carved and painted on top of discs.

Here is a picture of what Xiangqi looks like with Western Chess pieces along with the Chess Variant pieces.

I have the same pieces. They are nice.

I will for sure contact the producer of these pieces as i have a game i’d like to see. My own invention:

i use unicorn to replace knight and elephant to replace bishop, cannon to replace rook. This is my invention and the game is simply too fun.

Named my game: Alternate Chess.

It's something that some teenage girls said in a movie, and people just use it. You can ignore it.
