Hello,

I've been considering picking up a chess book or two to help improve my game.  Now, in this day and age with websites like chess.com available are studying with books even necessary?  Can't i find all i need here or on other sites?

It may be possible to some extent to find some of the materiels you need on the net but the hassle isin't worth it. If you want to turbo charge your study, get instructive DVD's they outdo almost any good chess book.

I think so.  No doubt there's a wealth of chess knowledge on the web, but I find a lot of times, knowledge is much broader than it is deep on the Internet.  In other words, there's a ton of info everywhere, but specific deep knowledge is not always easy to locate, and, that's provided that you even know what you should be searching for specifically.  Thus, I think books still have their place.  Topic study in books will usually cover said game specifics in totality, whereas many web pages might just scratch the surface.

To be fair, I'd say using both would be best approach, of course this is all just my opinion.

Regards!
