Travel Mate

Hi,

I have an old electronic chess board designed for travel: the Travel Mate, designed by Saitek.

Here is a photograph.

The problem is that I don't have the manual. Do someone has it somewhere under an old shelf?

I've searched the net in and the only answer I've found is about de "Travel Chess"... I've found an old photo like this but no manual...
Thank you all.

Good games!

I had one of those in the 90s--not sure what became of it, but I may still have the manual hidden somewhere. I'll take a look, though it might take a while.

sorry, no luck --but if you need help with any old flip phones or digital cameras, I'm your man...

Thank you very much. I'll keep searching...
I had got this one a few years after another small one: the "Kasparov Computer Chess Plus Coach". In the 90s also.
Now, my eyes are 53 and the small pieces seem all the same. But that's fun to use it from time to time! I love my relics.

Should be the same as the Saitek Aria. Sometimes they labeled the same machine different. http://alain.zanchetta.free.fr/docs/Saitek/Saitek_Aria_EN.pdf

Hello,

Thank you for this answer. indeed, it seems to fit with my Travel Mate! I will test it further.

Thank you once more!

That's something amazing considering the time it was launched in the market. But I didn't know about something like this before I viewed this thread. Thank you for sharing!!

I own about 10 old chess computers from the 80s and they are all in working condition. They are very fun to play and cheap to buy. It’s a good alternative to play online against bots.

I have kept all of my old chess computers ("my precious"). They all work fine also and give like a kind of sweet nostalgia. I have several Kasparov/Saitek/Mephisto, and Novag. My kids played chess with those and had fun too.

Sounds great. Would love to see if you can share some pictures here.

That looks amazing. And, looking at it, I just realized that the electronic chess sets available today are of the same design and this can be termed as their predecessor in design.

Indeed, the conception of most actual chess computes are the same.

I wanted to put more of them, but couldn't do more than 5 messages in a row.

And my first was in the 80's... 1985 I think...
