Another wonderful thread showing an excellent transformation and a superb combination of pieces with the board.

I am not sure your motivation but for me it’s not about monetary return when I refurbish a board or find some vintage pieces - rather in the end, I have the satisfaction of seeing the results of my work, giving something a new sparkle and then having something relatively rare - if not unique - and all at a reasonable price too.

Your skills with leather take this to another level. 👍

Thank you very mutch sir! Yes you are right, it's not about money. I have project to sell something, and start a small business, but for now this work is only for me. Realy, I was meaning for a little moment about selling this chess - backgammon set, but the price if I had to pay for the hours at the rate of a mechanic, for example, would be just exorbitant.

Thank's! I'm trying to do my best , I can do it better! There is a lots of defaults, and I'm not just talking about the imperfections necessary to achieve perfection! But the defects also prove that it is handmade work wink.png

Two years later:

Even if I were to sell this piece, let's say for 800 euros? The hours spent would never be fairly compensated. The price would have to be much higher. For now, it's a nice set in my small personal collection. Maybe I'll end up selling it, because the older I get, the less attached I am to material.

Recently, even, I've started to experience all the material things I've accumulated in a lifetime as a weight. It's a new sensation for me, of course linked to my insatiable need for freedom. I want to be able, tomorrow, to say to myself, I've had enough of France, I'm going to live in Sardinia, or Spain, or whatever else. Of course, in any place I will go, I'll bring some chess sets! for sure. tongue

Jouss,
Take a lot of pictures and let it go. Nevertheless, I believe the chess hype diminished a bit on a global level.
You can announce it on e-Bay or Etsy for €1.000 and see what happens. €800 for chess.com forum members only. It is tempting… But I can’t at the moment.

Lorsque l’artisan est aussi un artiste, son œuvre vaut largement la juste rétribution qu’il en demande ;-) Bravo l’artiste !
