Ultimate chess set

In-game photo of me using my new Ultimate set on a homemade board while playing Leela Zero.  I did not come away victorious, but I had a blast.  I absolutely love the contrast of the pieces on this board.  The black pieces stand out great against light blue, and the white pieces stand out wonderfully on the white squares.  I find it very attractive and easy on the eyes.

Nice!  Stauntonmutter can whine all he wants about the appropriateness of a set he's never played with but I agree, wholeheartedly.  The pieces are a blast to play with and the colour is just fine.  I take them to the club each week and everyone loves to play with them.

Yes, that setup looks great.

I also have played quite a bit with my Ultimate on a green thin mousepad board from Shelby and American Chess Equipment.

"can become really annoying after a short while."

Here's a photo of my newly arrived Ultimate Chess Pieces with my Tower series, 2" square, padauk and maple board from Brad Borkowski of Coloradowoodworker on Etsy. The combination looks terrific, I think.

I ordered the set from Chesshouse because the shipping was less. Thank you for bringing back this set. Mr. Lohrman. It is a fine set. I like the distinctive color of the white pieces.

The set is weighted very well and feels great when playing, however the black king came with a noticeable tilt to its crown, is there any chance there can be a replacement? Thanks.

The black king has a tilt in the crown with my sets as well.  Its pretty annoying at times.  Shelby if you do a v2 of the reissue:  1) Fix the yellow 2) Fix the crown.

If there is a problem with your sets I'm Shelby will replace the pieces with the defects.  He is fantastic at customer service.  Just contact him.  He fixed my issue very quickly.

I just assumed it was a mold defect.  Shelby is that not the case?

I had 2 pieces (not kings) with a significant lean to them.  I notified Shelby and he immediately replaced them.

Eyechess

Shelby is not currently online as I know he was having the equipment sales at the Arizona State Championship this weekend.

I just pulled my set like this from the car, and my Black King looks fine, not having that same problem.

I would say that this is a problem with that individual piece.

I suggest you contact Shelby at American Chess Equipment and he will fix the problem.

Now, if you bought the set from someplace else, like The Chess House, call them and they will get the piece replaced.

Fixed your post.

Never noticed it before but my black king is also slightly canted, perhaps 1-2mm.  Until I saw it here I had never held it at eye level before... doubt I'll bother about it.

Stauntonmaster: Thank you. I have some Vizine on hand for that contingency.
Moriarty_697
Stauntonmaster: Out of curiosity, how many games have you played with this set? As you seem to speak with some authority on this set, I would like to know when you personally experience this strain so I can avoid it. Thanks.

Yellow color is best for playing with, too neutral like ivory annoys the eyes and is irritating.

Ah don't even joke.  The "if not yellow then it must be pure ivory white" conversation really tilted me.  CREAM!

Yeah, hate to agree but the sticks of butter comment was spot on. I wouldn't wanna feel like I were chucking lard at my opponent. On the upside, provided they fix the colour these must be really good.
