Using Chessup2 with Chess.com


When playing an online opponent he (or she) promoted a pawn and I just assumed it was a queen. How can I know the piece chosen by my opponent in a game if it is not a queen?

My Repeated Updates Issue: After playing more games on the chessup2, both online and with bots I think I can answer my own question and perhaps help others just receiving their board. The short version is to stick to using the board and not to continue using the app alongside. Once the board is connected online I close the app and have also stopped using it during the reset cycle now. I am sure the app is needed for some things (like first chess.com connect) but nothing I have done since actually needed it. In fact I suspect the app has messages which are intended more for the chessup1 and the distinction between the two board types I have found a little vague. In particular it was the app that led me to make un-necessary and repeated updates. So just keep things simple and use the board. I hope that helps someone.

My Promotion Issue for an Unknown Piece: This one is my fault entirely. When an opponent promotes a pawn you must first move the pawn to the promotion square THEN view the screen on the board

My previous post unfinished... Read the selected peice (usually a queen of course) and THEN replace the pawn with the peice named. Issue closed.

I'm sure my grandkids will want to immediately play Chessup2 when we open it on Christmas. Do I need to charge the battery or calibrate it in any way before they can play?

No calibration is required, that was a thing on the Chessup1. The battery will be about 50-60% when you get it as that is the safe state for these types of batteries. Charging it is recommended but you can plug it in and play right away, that's what I did, lol.
I'd recommend first connecting the board to your WIFI and allow it to update to the latest firmware. Then you can either play or connect to chess.com (you need the app to connect, so maybe have that in your phone already).

hi i just received my board today and when i try to connect to my chess.com account it directs me into the app then it takes me to chess.com tells me to accept those terms so chessup would link with chess.com and when i press accept after like 4 seconds it keeps poping up again wont let me link my account or play even when i manage to see the game playing on the phone but when i do the moves on the board they dont register and neither on the phone as if i moved nothing
any suggestion or help is greatly appreciated thanks

Same problem here! I say "Approve" to connect my account to chess.com but the page just keeps reloading telling me to "Approve" again. It's incredibly frustrating, would love some help!

I think the connection might be ok now but now I've a new issue, it just says Starting soon... on the chessup board forever without finding a game 😭

I have the same issue. Attempting to start a chess.com game on my new chessup board and only get a “Starting soon…” message. Hoping it’s not my board?

slvnn and then i press cancel on the the terms ill still be logged in but cant play online i go from the phone i manage to get in a match but the screen on the board wont change to the timer and opp name or anything and it shows the moves he plays if white he plays i play on the board doesnt register on the phone gameplay cuz you can see it at the same time i dont know i mglad im not alone in this not gonna lie even if i press play on board it keep searching forever

and for example if you go on press cancel on the terms it will let you stay logged in and will be able to play bots but if you try from the board it will say server error for chess.com bots from phone its ok online both phone and from the board its a problem if you press play on board just keeps searching from phone it will show and everyhting but it will end up not registering your moves and even the screen will not the change on the board sry for the long messages but id rather say everything thats happening as a problem
