What book should I buy?

Hello! I am not a total newbie to the game of chess, but I am far from considering myself to be a good player, but I would like to improve! I am looking for a book to read, since the only one I have ever read is Winning Chess Strategies by Yasser Seirawan. I am currently undecided if trying another book of the same author (I was thinking about winning chess openings or w.c. tactics); or buying "my 60 memorable games" by Bobby Fisher, about which I have read many positive opinions. But, again, since I am far from being good at this game, what would you advise me to buy? if you have other suggestions, do not hesitate to tell me! I am particularly looking for a book that is not too boring or full of a billion variations, but more on a book that focuses on the reasons behind the moves, more than the moves themselves (but not a book for complete beginners!). Thank you for your time :)

Depends on your skill level and what level of improvement youre looking for.

JRTK73

Try the Art of Planning Chess by Neil McDonald. It has relatively modern games and it explains every move with plenty of prose.

TacoTornado

anything by fred reinfeld is great.

@Diakonia : I am rated about 1250-1300 right now in the 10 minutes games... and I am kind of looking for an improvement in understanding why some moves are made rather than others...

Roma60

try the move by move books they are all well written plus can cover the page and try to play the right moves.

If youre talking about the opening, then try the Move By Move books.

Art of Planning Chess by Neil McDonald.

Pawn Structure Chess by Andy Soltis.  If you want to know why a piece goes where it does in the opening then you need to understand the pawn structure of that opening.

Ciapa la Galeina, by Liliana Delgrosso.
