Now a reminder to that dentist apoiment:
lol!
I don't really want to hurt any feelings... but I think one of the black pawns is adopted...
"*WOW* VINTAGE WOODEN CHESS SET LIGHT WOOD & EBONY COMPLETE KING 3" TALL"
Good one. (I'm still looking for that sort of thing but less obvious which I remember seeing all the time back when I collected.)
like this pic from the "anonymous" chess collector blog:
The anonymous collector calls into question a lot of things on this set from an eBay listing. Mostly obviously one of these pieces is a complete mismatch... and I think this kind of mismatch has more malace than the big Staunton pawn in the St George set above, becasue in this listing the seller was trying to pass it off as a matched set.
hm... I feel like that's an oversite because it's so obvious. Well I'm not curious enough to ask the seller about it. I hope no one buys the set without noticing the elephant in the room.
lol. I found what I was looking for:
Those aren't rook finials. Someone has screwed the top section of pawns into the bottom section of rooks.
so this one is not so funny, but along the same lines as the other SG set and weird king height in pictures, I can't tell if some of these Black pawns are a replacement from a bigger set or it's an optical illusion:
When it rains it pours...
Following the pawn-rook comglomorations we have the homosexual St. George set:
Queens have been replaced by Kings from a similar set.
Good things come to people who waits.... and waits... and waits...

I think the seller is smoking too much resin.
This is really the sort of thing I was talking about earlier. Practically every other piece is from a different set, and the seller thinks no one knows what a pre-staunton set is supposed to look like so they can't tell the difference:
Ok actually the seller is being honest "i have received the following advice today from another ebayer, this is a combination of two different countries.the kings, knights and pawns are from an english st george set.the black peaces, look to be ebony.the queens,,bishops and rooks are from a regence set.these black peaces are stained black, not ebony," but it's still funny.
Can anybody see what is electronic about this set? Answer at the end of this post
"31 Electronic Chess Game Pieces"
There is no other set like this on the world, and if you ever lose a piece a trip to Home Depot will fix the problem.
