Set number 2 is amazing i really cant find words to show my passion for that set . One of the best sets ever made
I find set #1 the most elegant overall. Bet it is quite tippy, though. I always wondered about why most of the old Russian sets aren't weighted... it's pretty windy out on the steppe!
I think the set is fine for slower clock games, but not so much for blitz play
How about # 5? A young GM Yuri Averbakh playing with a very nice Russian set. Picture probably from late 40s or early 50s. Check out those awesome Bishops!! And those tall somewhat crudely carved Knights, but still very appealing.
Here's my favorite Sov. set--very rare. I wish I could entice someone to reproduce it.
