ChessBaron is the only other official retailer that I know of. Most of what you are seeing are reproductions.
Who is authorized to sell OFFICIAL FIDE Sets?

While I also like the set there seem to be some production quality concerns.

to me, at the asked price, this sadly is a no go. Maybe they fixed their production since but I won't buy anything unless I can be sure they did.

Niggemann, House of Staunton, ChessBaron, and World Chess (of course). Chesshouse sells the DGT FIDE set (frequently out of stock). For US customers, in my opinion, I think House of Staunton should be your best option. They currently have a 25% off Black Friday sale going on.
Most everyone else is selling replicas of unknown quality. Ask the replica seller if the FIDE set comes in the official FIDE box and packaging. 99% of the time they will say no. That's a big red flag if you are looking for an authentic set.
I bought a knock off set a few years back and it was shipped straight from India. Surprisingly it was pretty darn good. Only the miter cuts on the bishops were a little ragged but I fixed them. All wooden chess sets are made in India anyway and I wouldn't be surprised if my set didn't come from the same craftsmen as the "official" world sets.
I see the sets on WorldChess.com, the basic set at $399 US. But I see others all over the place (ebay, amazon, etsy) for less than half that? Is World Chess the only authorized distributor? Are the others unlicensed knock offs?
I do like the set, but would like to know that I'm getting something authentic and not a lower quality imitation.
Thanks for shedding any light!
Best,
Lance
