Would you buy this board and where would you buy it?

I like the concept very much. I’ve been doing some experimenting with 3D printed pieces. I think there is some potential in this.
the design of your board is unique, however, the cost might be a tough sell compared to other boards. A Rechapados Ferrer board is likely cheaper than a 3D printed one.
i like the idea of 3D printed pieces for a few reasons:
- I can print pieces in interesting colours
- i can print pieces in smaller sizes
- i can print pieces and install sensors for use with a smart board (I think this is a growing area)
it’s possible you can sell files for these and let others print them. I’m happy to collaborate with you on the chess piece design. Very interested about the board design though. 35mm squares is what I like.

https://3dvanreeth.be/product/queen-size-red-beige/This one has more close up's of the pieces.
And now that I see it myself, I need to reshoot these as they were pieces made with not the best print settings. But it give an idea.

Well the squares are 35mm, so you are in luck with that
A Rechapados Ferrer is usually 100+ ( after a quick check )
I keep mine at 90 for now.
The unique design/portability/ presentable box are the selling points which makes it worth it.
The smart board is an interesting idea indeed, in the process in learning that stuff again, with creating/programming my own chessclock.

I bought a Rechapados Ferrer board with 35mm squares for CAD57. I think some people will compare the price to what they can get a board for in other materials (especially wood or a veneer).
I agree a board with storage offers additional features. A custom slot for pieces is pretty interesting.
I’m suggesting you can also make money by just selling a license to the printable STL like 3dprintedchess.com. Let people DIY print… or partner with printers in different countries so people can order and have printed locally for cheaper shipping.
I'd like to also share a few comments about the pieces:
- The narrow bases could make the pieces unstable. They all look to be the same base size.
- What kind of finishing is needed after you print the pieces? For example, pieces on 3dprintedchess.com avoid the use of overhangs that require supports (except for the knight)
Hi,

As a man with multiple hobby's I sometimes combine them.
The result is a 3d printed chessboard. It dividable in board parts, which are being held together buy magnets while playing. Between 2 board parts on the bottom you can find, storage for the pieces and all together can be stored in the included box.
The total size of the board is 30cm x 30 cm and the pieces are magnetic.
It fit easy in a backpack and is easier to travel with.
Now I'm quick proud of this and want to sell it, so this is market research.
Who are you, that you want to buy this?
And where would you buy it? Online ( etsy, amazon,... ) or would you go to a physical store?
Just your opinion on this concept is fine as well.
other colors can be viewed on: https://3dvanreeth.be/shop/
( Still have older design on there as well where all the magnets are visible )
