Xflyee Chess Clock

Yesterday I bought a PS-1688. It's my first chess clock. And I think it hasn't been a bad purchase. It cost me less than €12 on AliExpress with shipping included. I don't think there is anything better for that price.

I know this is an older post but I have a Xflyee chess clock. I can’t figure out how to do a manual setting. I need to set 45 mins wth 15 sec delay

Do you guys know how to set delay time controls on this clock?

This is my question too. I can’t seem to make any manual time settings that aren’t pre-programmed

Check out the info in link from Portland chess club in pdf I think ; https://pdxchess.org/wp-content/uploads/Setting-the-popular-digital-clocks-for-one-or-two-time-controls-with-an-increment.pdf

Thanks. I had seen that but no answer there about delays

To set a custom delay time control, choose one of the delay presets and then adjust it.

Thats what I wouldve thot but maybe I'm an idiot; Icant figure out how to do so. The manual is difficult to follow..thanks inadvance if u can help with specific steps

Several of my friends have that clock and had no problem using them in 30 second delay or increment tournaments. But no idea -how- to set it, but I do know it's a manual mode. They did show me how to set it once, when I asked, but I naturally don't remember what they did, only that they did it in front of me.

Do you have the magnetic lever (standard) clock or the pushbutton clock? The pushbutton one is horrible btw, buttons are not soft press and have to be pressed dead center to activate.

I only had the lever clock (two of them in one purchase) for one day but returned them both due to VERY serious problems with the sensor balance that activates a side based on position of the lever press (not only activating on barely beginning to press one side, but bad enough to even cause a double input). I tested one at a tournament that was *much* better balanced around the center (which is how it should be), but of course...not the two I bought on Amazon!

The new DGT clocks have a "neutral" position deadzone to avoid this problem (which you can see in the clock's "diagnostic test mode", and they all balance around the middle of the lever action (only complaints about those have been imbalanced magnet strength on some).

Hey! I’m pleased I finally figured out how to set time manually on this clock ! The key is to hold in the third button ( on far right) until digit blinks; then press it to set each digit individually.

I didn’t know the Xflyee clock came in a push button model.

Yep it does. Just seems impossible to find for purchase.

You can actaully see a "sketch" picture of it on the main box itself, which of course means that "xflyee" is as much of an OEM using the same exact clone design that Pursun does:

https://www.amazon.com/Xflyee-Digital-Chess-Clock-Function/dp/B087QZGYCD

There's a 'pursun' button model which seems to be one of the many clones of this clock:

https://thechessstore.com/the-chess-store-tournament-digital-chess-clock-forest-green/?gQT=1

of course, selling for far too much money....

I actually find it funny that the unbranded "PS-1688" clock sells for $39.99 while the xflyee, the exact same clock, is $26...

Then there's the RVXlRDN one for $24 ...

I don't think Xflyee ever privately branded that Pursun brand clock with the pushbuttons, which is a different clock to that Pursun brand clock with the lever which Xflyee privately branded.

I remember seeing a youtube video on that pushbottom clock and the buttons don't work great. One of the times when the clock button was pressed, the clock didn't register the press.

Thanks, that was the "key" to the operation. Plus, I believe the clock has to be in PAUSE for you to set the times. I reprogrammed #15 to become one hour, plus a 10 second increment. The instructions are horrible, at least in English.

I find clocks that blank out the time while the delay counter counts down, to be absolutely horrid. And I even tried a clock (maybe this one) that replaced the mover's time with the delay countdown, leaving the opponent's time showing, which is terribly confusing. Not only do you have no idea how much time you have, but if you look at the clock quickly you only see your opponent's time showing. Not that we spend a lot of time staring at the clock during the delay period, but it is frustrating to have to wait 5 seconds to see how much time you have if you weren't thinking to look during your opponent's time.

On the other hand, the "always on display" move counter is great. I thought the DGT North American Updated clock did exactly this, as that is essentially what the advertising and manual say, but it is incorrect - same old garbage "push the button and it will display the move count in lieu of the time, while you hold the button so you disrupt the display and your opponent if you need to check the move count"

You should be using the scoresheet to check the move count anyway, not the clock. And perhaps that feature is made for TDs.

you just saved my life fr

Isn’t this the same clock as the Gorilla Chess Tournament Pro? If so @ShelbyLohrman has many YouTube videos on how to set it.
Avatar of BigLew

It is the same as a CG Pro.

I know you already figured it out but her is a video for anyone else that needs it.

@BigLew
Not related, but I'll be getting an A&A chess clock sample for review soon, from their company.

I'll be comparing it to the DGT 2500. Going to be very interesting if the firmware is the same. The form factor is similar to the Leap, but the shape is quite different. And I have some possible questions about battery life on rechargable AAA eneloops too.

I would love to review the upgraded Silverback along with these two, but I haven't heard back from @ShelbyLohrman yet, as I think the Silverback is the best clock yet, and the A&A might just be boring if it's a miniature DGT 2500 (it does NOT seem to be a clone of the DGT NA New) so that one might not be done in time for the next tournament. I don't think any of the kids own a A&A clock yet, or a Silverback, so that would be a good chance to generate some interest.

If the undocumented test mode actually works, and the "Neutral" Lever position (which the 2500 has) is functional....we'll see...the quality of the lever's "neutral" position is going to be a major thing to look for here...
