What chess software do you use?

I use a Mac, so use Sigma Chess 6.1 with the HIARCS engine (the lite one that is

free still at the moment yet will purchase a license for the pro one soon).

I have Fritz 10 on my PC and Palm Chess Hiarcs on my PDA.  I also use the free programs Nagaskaki and SlowChess which are both worth a look.

My chess software is Chessmaster 10th Edition. Earlier I had Fritz 8, but I didn't like it. It is strong as chess engine but it is not interesting as a game. I don't know how about Fritz 10, whether it is interesting as a game or not, but I like my Chessmaster very, very much. There are a lot of interesting tournaments, a lot of different computer chess players with their specific features, and of course rating games.

I also really enjoy Chessmaster 10th Edition!  If it's not the best Chess program one can get then there is no doubt that I will be astonished by what is.

Fritz 10 on my more powerful PC and Chessbase Light Premium on my laptop. The power of Fritz ten for blunder analysis with a dual-core processor and 4 GB of RAM is unreal... it is my best virtual teacher!

I also use Chessmaster 10th edition. It is my primary chess playing program. I also have Crafty (fully loaded w/ endgame tablebases) and Chessbase light but I rarely use these programs.

I use Chessbase 9 and Fritz 10 daily.  Occasionally I use the Total Training software (Ct-Art 3.0 mostly) by Convekta.

On my desktop and laptop, I have several programs loaded like Fritz4, Fritz5, Chess Genius 5, Chessbase7, and finally Fritz9 with powerbook05 and endgame tablebases. I like to switch and compare.

OpenChess for Palm OS. It is free and I can play it anywhere since I have my palmOS phone with me all the time. If you have a palmOS device, get OpenChess in the downloads section.

For PalmPilot: HiArcs 9.6

I used to have Chessmaster, but I got a new computer and I lost the CD.  I don't feel like spending a lot of money, so what's a good chess program that's inexpensive?  Maybe one that you just download instead of using a CD?

I use Fritz 10 because it has several features that I find very interesting. For example the full game analysis with text comments is superb. It also implements a powerful database engine. And another feature that I want to try soon is the opening training feature.

I have Chessmaster 10, Fritz 10, Arena, Gnome-Chess and Eboard (w/ several engines) on my laptop. I primarily use Chessmaster 10, as it seems to be the most suited to novice chess players.

You can buy a used copy of Chessmaster 10 on Amazon.com for around $9. Of course, you could also "acquire" it online for free. Wink

Hmmm.. everybody seems so updated down here! I'm stuck with Fritz 7 which is kinda behind time. Been wanting to get Fritz 10 for ages but can't seem to get it in my country! Probably have to get it online. Anyway, I strongly recommend the Total Training software (Ct-Art 3.0 mostly) by Convekta. It will be a good help for beginner- advanced level chess players and helps develop combinative vision!

I use the Rybka program for analyzing my chess games after I play them to look for mistakes and improvements. I prefer the Rybka program over others because it is simply the strongest and it comes up with more "human" moves and it understands positional chess much more than other chess programs.

I use Chessmaster 10th edition and Chess mentor. I'm a chess software addict, so I have just about everything else on CD. CM 10th Edition and Chess Mentor allow me to have the greatest versatility while taking up the smallest amout of real estate on my laptop. I did manage to load additional software on my wife's new PC until she started to put an end to my fiendish plans!
