I should update my experiences shouldn't I!?

I did actually pursue my idea of going for a coach - and it was a VERY positive experience.

I will first of all say, I do appreciate all the knowledgable members on here who pass on their advice, and I also appreciate the players who ask the questions - and of course those who fall into both groups.

I explained my position to the coach - love of the game...more or less disrespecting Morphy, Alekhine, Lasker, Reti, Petrosian el by knowing their names, and their achievements but never spending the time to get good at the game! - and it was a good chat, you don't cover the whole of chess history in  one lesson, but a detailed interactive chat about the one era and the themes is something I really enjoyed.

I am a respecter and lover of the game - I owe it to the game to try and get better. But hey, if I don't: good on the people who beat me, and I will at least have tried, and learned something along the way.

Can even improve by doing lessons, drills, puzzles etc. Give them a try and enjoy.
