Petra started coaching me a few months ago, and she has helped me greatly. She is very nice and knows so much about chess. She provides good resources and helps you understand important concepts for every part of the game. Her lessons have already made me a better player, and I look forward to learning more from her. She is the best coach I have ever had!

I can’t say enough good things about taking lessons with Petra, in the first two weeks of taking lessons with her my rapid rating increased 150 points to about 900 and my puzzle rating hit a personal high of over 1860. She has a great ability to tell you what you did wrong and make you feel smarter and better after and not bad you that you messed up. Not only that but she’s very kind and very supportive. She’s done well to explain endgame tactics with someone like me who tends not to get things the first time around. I feel like I’m learning so much from her and I can’t recommend her more highly for someone who, like me, really loves chess even when it doesn’t always love you back.

You are very positive and love chess, which is the most important. I am happy to teach you, and I see you develop very well. Your visualization skills are much better, and you calculate better. But don't forget to take your opponent's pieces and defend yours. Play just when you are ready and have a lot of power ( when you feel you can focus well).

I believe your rating will increase quickly.

Petra is a fantastic coach and each lesson is very interesting and fun.  She teaches you how to think and move pieces on the board not theoretical concepts.  This is very effective and in fact I have improved a lot in the first 5 months of coaching (+300 points in rapid).  After each lesson the improvement is amazing.  I definitely highly recommend her.

I've been working with Petra for the past three months and highly recommend her as a chess coach. I'm over 40 years old, a beginner chess player, and honestly have seen improvement in my play and understanding of the game. Ultimately, my goal is to play in an OTB FIDE tournament and achieve an official rating. Petra has helped me with selecting some openings for both white and black, some middle game strategy (usually through master games or personal game analysis), some end game technique, and regularly working on tactics. So slowly working on all phases of the game. She comes prepared to each lesson and has really helped to elevate my enjoyment of chess.

I believe you can do 1100,1200,1300... very soon and your understanding of the game is greatly improved.

how much does she charge?

My son, Lorenzo Rolle has been working with Petra since May 2022. He has improved considerably in all aspects of the game and his rapid rating here on chess.com (which is the one he really cares about :-) ) has gone up almost 400 points and Lorenzo is now at 1900.
Lorenzo has worked with Petra on openings, end-games, positional concepts and tactics. I'd like to point out that Petra is very good and making the lesson fun and enjoyable which I think is really important, as Lorenzo was only 8 when he started the lessons and Petra was able to keep him interested and ( relatively :-) ) focused for two hour sessions which is not an easy achievement with an 8 (now 9) year old boy.
All in all me and Lorenzo are very happy with the work that we have done with Petra and we hope to keep going and improving for a long time. We are very happy to recommend her as a chess coach for anyone who is interested in deepening their understanding of the game in a fun way.

Over the course of our training together Petra has been incredibly helpful in building a solid opening repertoire for me to use in my games as well as developing my tactical skills and working through key endgames. She has always provided me with plenty of supporting documents about the openings we discussed together, including related Master Games to study, as well as many different ways of practising and working on tactics.

Week by week she would also give me materials to study and if I had any questions we would discuss them together in the following class. On top of that she was always available to review any of my games together.

Most of all she is very passionate about the game, which really helps you stay motivated and develop a broader interest in the game.
