I am FM Charles Galofre, I started teaching on chess.com on November of 2021. I have worked with over 70 people. I am looking to work with people long term. I will tell you the secrets to your improvement, and how you can continuously improve if you follow my advice in regards to the strategy behind your improvement.
Why Affordable? ($25 an hour) - Because my students need me, and they need to work with me for a period of time so they can have the space to improve at chess. You need to work with someone that can be flexible enough in regards to pricing, and among other things, that has experience teaching, can deliver results, and can articulate and verbalize chess to small sized pieces, so you can understand the game better.
I think this is a phenomenal deal for anyone in need of a coach, and I only really have space for 30 students.
What are the technicalities of the lessons? We will meet 4 times a month for 1 hour ($25x4=$100 a month). I will answer all your questions, give you recommendations on everything, and guide you on your learning process. I will also answer as many emails you can send me pertaining to your case and need.
What is the strategy behind the lessons? or what is the curriculum? Essentially, I will be analyzing your games and submerging you with details regarding your play. from openings, to middlegames, to endgames. Every phase of your games. I give you all the feedback I can by talking for 80% of the lesson. what I do is put into words your games, I explain the logic behind the moves so you can "see" and understand chess like me.
Whats the secret? in these lessons between you and I, I will be talking for 80% of the time. What I recommend for you, is that you record the lessons through Skype, so you can carefully hear what I say in our lessons. This will ensure you get and remember everything I teach you so you can hold more of that information and make use of it.
Ok, so the secret, the secret is, you want to listen to everything I say. When you do that, you will adopt my "voice" and "logic" to chess. You will find yourself saying things I say about chess when explaining it, and adopting my voice. In other words, in terms of explaining the game you're becoming me.
This is a very powerful concept. Why? because after a while, I recommend you do your due diligence and work with a new coach that can do the same thing, verbalize and articulate your games, and you listen to his logic and understanding about chess, to incorporate his words and vocabulary into your vocabulary.
You rinse and repeat this process, and you will continuously be improving.
That is the best method of improvement in my opinion when working with coaches.
I do assign homework, but you are not forced to complete it. Everything is recorded through skype so you don't need to take notes. If I were you I would have two goals: 1. reach 2000 rating (expert level), then 2. reach 2200 rating (master level), at the master level, you can answer most of your questions and work on chess on your own to reach a title, FM IM or GM.
I would like to work with you for a long time, and help you in your path and journey to chess improvement.
I like to talk about books. However, I can also talk about videos. Not everyone is a book guy, and not everyone is a video guy, both activities can help you accelerate your growth.
I worked for Chess.com for 2 years as their video editor. I worked with every major grandmaster in the United States, recording their lessons which were converted to chess.com videos. I was the first person to start chess.com/videos, way back then.
I am a self taught FIDE Master. I have a 45% score versus +2500 rated opponents. It means I play better versus higher opposition.
If you're more serious about your chess, I can give you a better deal, which is $20 for 20. In other words, 20 hours with me, which are 20 weeks, at $20 the hour. That would be $400 USD and 5 to 6 months.
I can consult with you about where you are at, and where you want to be. You can ask me any questions. I will help you as much as possible. I am currently working on my IM and GM titles, but need to save money to be able to play in 9 round IM GM norm tournaments. I am a fulltime chess coach and always have more than 10 students.
I only have space for 30 students so if you're in need of help, consider sending me a message on chess.com with a little bit about yourself and your situation, and I will be happy to have a skype chat. or a call with you.
In all modesty, I believe I am one of the best coaches on chess.com and also one of the most affordable ones.
Lastly, before I let you go, I can teach you how to work on your own through tools and resources. I can teach you how to study openings, I can teach you how to study middlegames, I can teach you how to study endgames.
I can show you, how to memorize all the openings (I would say thats quite incredible)
I can show you how to be on top of theory and all the latest games, I can show you how to mine for novelties. I can show you how to generate your own analysis.
Hi Charlie, I have run a chess academy and would be interested in your services. Drop me a line to office@chessmaxacademy.com with your contacts so we can connect and discuss. Max
