In regard to the position of the white rook on c1, the "Coach" says, "You got it! Black's rook cannot capture the pawn because of the back rank. Finish this game by forcing a trade of rooks!"
Why is black unable to capture the pawn on b7, thereby avoiding a rook to rook showdown? I understand taking the pawn opens up the back rank for a check, but the king could move to e7 where it would be defended by the black rook.
Am I missing something here?
