First someone needs to want to LEARN CHESS. . .
1. ALWAYS BEGIN WITH THE POSITION OF THE BOARD and WHERE THE PIECES GO . . .
2. SHOW HOW THE PIECES MOVE THEN ASK THEM TO SHOW YOU HOW THEY MOVE . . .
3. SHOW HOW TO CAPTURE PIECES . THEN ASK THEN HOW TO DO THAT.
4. SAVE TEACHING EN PASSANT LATER.
5. Show a simple mate . . .

6. Patience and have a glass of water!

Hi, I am one of the few people in my family and friend groups who knows how to play chess. This means I am often requested to teach people how to play. I would like to know what is the best way to teach chess E.G what to teach first, how to explain the importance of openings ETC.
Any advice would be much appreciated
