Y’all should coach people for free

I’ve been doing it for a while and it’s chill. it doesn’t matter what level ur at you can coach somebody even if it’s showing someone how the pieces move.
Some of the benefits are

-you get to win. You’ll probably beat the ppl ur coaching. winning is fun

-you solidify ur own knowledge

-you feel like an expert/ highly skilled

-seeing peoples elos boost is rewarding

-enhances the chess community

-you get a break from dogfights at ur level and can chill and play an easier opponent

-make friends

700 elo difference is a lot and is super easy to coach ull have something to say on almost every move they make. I’m comfortable up to about 500 elo difference but some people want more of a challenge and go to 300 elo difference. You don’t have to be a 2000 to coach you can easily coach beginners at like 1000. 1000 is an expert compared to a person who just plays a couple games here and there. If u feel like coaching you can offer in this thread esp if ur like 1500 or higher u can teach ppl a ton.
Edit- I d g a f what any of y’all think about this lol. Truly bros. You guys think chess is a sport. If you think chess is a sport, idc about any of your other thoughts lol

I politely disagree. Coach's need to be strong players. However yes, anyone can show someone else how the pieces move for example, nothing wrong with that happy.png

You can explain rules to someone, but shouldn't coach someone on tactics, strategy, openings, etc. because you do not have a strong grasp of those things yourself, and it will only instill bad habits.

You’re wrong but that’s ok

Yup, can politely have different opinions happy.png

People should coach for free, because I get offers that way too high.

Oh some time ago I also wanted free coaching and my friend gave me this site: https://chessmood.com/?r=NationalChessBlasters its actually really good, I would check it out! There are some free courses taught by GMs!

@pathofnerd you’re totally wrong so I don’t care

Avatar of FavelaSwag

It was boosting ppls elos like crazy so y’all are wrong but it’s ok you’re wrong. The only problem is they realize it’s not super easy and don’t hit me back. I mean you guys are just objectively wrong about this one but that’s ok

You can also check out my tactical course that is also free!

Follow the google slides to properly learn step by step.

You'll get videos and interaction puzzles!

You guys can also coach and ud probably be pretty good but you think you’re not good enough to coach bc ur wrong haha. I mean I’ve argued about this with other people you don’t have to be a 2000 to coach a 300 it makes absolutely no sense at all

Unfortunately though, I want a free coach, but our ratings are only 100 different.

I strongly agree! ChessMood is literally free coaching.

@jay_1944 U can coach fr I’m like 1200 and I can coach up to like 650 very comfortably. I go for a level that I can tell them everything I’m doing and still win every game. 850 is where I would agree w what ur saying bc those guys need someone at least like 1400. I took a couple paid lessons with some one 600 points higher and it was a whole different level. But at like 600 points + difference they’ll just do obvious stuff like castle on a terrible side or not retreat a piece to a square (500s don’t even retreat their knights it’s common they just let a pawn take it let alone look for a good retreat square). And then I tell them what I’m thinking try to get them on that level. Everyone at my current level would be thinking these things but they’re not thinking about it that’s why it’s hard for them and easy for me. I go hard and try to grind them a little bit. Thats my style. Theres a lot of new info for them. That’s why the people that hit me up a few times would always go on these crazy win streaks after a few sessions.I definitely would have plenty of data to back it up. It boosts people’s elos like crazy. Then it’s like well I can’t reallycoach u anymore at 850 and u might have to pay someone now bc I’m the only free coach lol. And chuck haha. Most of the beginners tho think having a coach just makes progress super easy an effort free. I’m looking for ppl with a little mental fortitude which is kinda rare. Also it’ll just burn out new players so I like them to play for at least a month before

How you can coach somebody if you're total zero at chess yourself?

@MarioParty4

Then how about you go and work for free? Try to go to the shop and get some goods for free. Good luck! We don't live in communism. Wake up!

You’re a zero at life. Shut up

Avatar of FavelaSwag

@pathofnerd. Oh ya ur a coach I’m taking ur clients ok. G t f o my thread. Ur blocked

Avatar of FavelaSwag

I don’t care about anyone’s opinions on this. If you’re a real coach u don’t need to be coaching 600 and under it makes no sense. U don’t need to be a 2300 to coach a 300 what are you guys smoking?

Avatar of FavelaSwag

I know how chess people are I was expecting this. This is why y’all aren’t the cool popular guys. You’re the chess guys that think it’s a sport bc ur too unathletic for real sports.

I love how all your arguments are some variations on "you're wrong." Really makes a solid rebuttal to valid points made by others in the community.

But on a more serious note, as a lower-rated coach (less than maybe 1500) the most you can really teach is some simple tactical patterns because you don't really have a good grasp on positional concepts.
