I'm trying to find a coach with a reasonable fee. Any of you know of a good chess coach? Not necessarily for training, but to improve my game.

Thank you!

You will have an easier time if you define what you mean by "reasonable" ($25 per hour, etc.).

Also, more about what you mean by "a coach, not necessarily for training, but to improve my game."  I presume you think that coaches typically play matches against their students. I have had several chess teachers. None ever suggested that we should play full games. I think most people would find it prohibitively expensive to pay someone to sit and watch them think.

Thank you for your response, though not helpful. I did manage to come across someone who said they could help me improve my game and is willing to do so at no cost.

I was trying to help.  I thought your request was confusing. A lot of people come here looking for a free coach but you asked for a coach  "with a reasonable fee", implying that you would actually pay money. If you wanted a free coach, why didn't you just say that?

I suppose it could be confusing. I wasn't looking for a free coach. One just happen to come my way and I said reasonable because coaches charge 30 to $75 for a 1-2 hr session. That would be reaosonable IF I was looking to seriously compete in tournaments. I am not looking to do so, just improve my game. Though, maybe one day I would like to.

Consider this guy: I read reviews about him and he seems to be good. It is indeed hard to find a good coach but reviews can be helpful. From reviews I deduced that he will be my first choice if I start using a coach's services. Here's the link to his profile: http://www.chess.com/members/view/ChessTrener

Personally, I find the benefits of the Diamond Membership very helpful right now. I'm not spending a ton of money and still learning a great deal. Only after that will I resort to coach's services. I hope my suggestions were helpful.

Looks like you found someone already, good! Hope you are able to improve more with the help. I think beginners can improve faster when they have someone to kind of guide them through the forest of chess information that can be confusing initially, like when first learning anything.

I can do coaching, but I live in a different time zone from US, so would have to find good times to schedule.
