Well, Chess kid is for kids. But it does not mean it is stupid. I have been there. It was good but it did not seem to have as many options a chess.com. Still Chess kid is good.
chesskid has the most important thing for parents; kid safety.
You can do most anything chesskid as you can on chess.

i would go the opposite way. this site has slowly meandered into the realm of 'stupid' because they allow all the kids and related kid garbage, like counting threads. there is no way to really stop the kiddos that want to hang out at the adult table, but the site should be more proactive when kids are posting junk and use less of the bots to reign in adult conversation.
(they fail miserably there).
we regularly hear that this is supposed to be a 'family-friendly' site. that is a euphemism for 'watch your language as it is deciphered by our automation'.

I loved chesskid when I was younger. Great site for kids to learn.

What's counting threads?
I've reported all comments that says bad and awful things about ChessKid. It's a website for kids. It is 100% safe, has restricted chat and ???. The Chess.com team don't appreciate comments that are disrespectful.
Also, ChessKid is a part of Chess.com. If you say ChessKid is stupid then you are disrespecting part of Chess.com. Be careful of what you say.
