Hi I'm rated 1628 USCF but that was years ago. Playing a lot of rated games using rybka and Shredder and using elo calculators I can say confidently I'm rated 1778. I'm offer Lessons for 5 USD a hour and the first lesson is free for my first student! I also analyse games for $3 ($2 if it's under 20 moves and $4 if it's over 40 and this price goes up every .25 for 10 moves with your money back if not satisfied) Well play 2 games (not part of the lesson and free) rapid time controls of 15/15 then ger into the lesson.

You mean you played a lot of rated games against Rybka and Shredder, right?

Only the best things in life are free, chess coaching by an internet chess master not, except the first lesson.

Well 1600 uscf is not much, neither 1700. I am pretty sure any kind of engine experience doesnt qualify you as a good trainer either. 5 usd/hour is cheap rate but not cheap as you think. I had 1700 national rating (1697 or sth official dont remember) won a first prize in a major open (U1700 unbeaten 9 rounds) i had trainers certificate from our chess federation. And i worked as a slightly unexperienced trainer for 6 months, 197 usd/month in local chess club 8 actual lesson hours + 10-12 hours of babysitting per week (sth like 80 hour / month) . If we deduce babysitting and travel time it was roughly 16 usd but if we calculate according to time spent it was 2 usd/hour. I was also expected to prepare individual lessons and homework for each of my students (i had 2 class 3 students each) and it wasnt included in 20 hours/ workload. Our primary trainer was merely 2000 player only 300 rating stronger than me, he was my friend i was occasionally beating him in blitz. But he was trainer for 25+ years and he was getting 600+ usd/month for 3 hour/week without any baby sitting. If it didnt convinced you, download icc software and see many titled players give lessons for 10 usd/ hour.

Lets talk about the other side, most of the GM and IMs in my country gives chess lessons at 75usd/hour rate. They expect you to take at least 2 hours/month and they give 7/24 free counciling for anytime for free about any subject as frequently as you want assuming they are not tutoring somebody at the moment and help you wanted can be given under reasonable time 5-6 minutes. They also prepare individual homeworks they send you everyweek, and they analysis and annotate your games for free (mail back in a few days in cbh format) they explain everything in the language you prefer, the things you should watch for, why your mistake was bad, or which master games you should analyze to cover your weaknesses. I personally took a lesson from a foreign IM (valeri lilov) when i was trainer i was doing that to earn my own chess expenses. Since i had bad financial conditions we had an agreement, i promised 1 hour/ month for a year and he accepted 30 usd rate instead of his regular 55 usd/ hour. I continued this for 6 month but when i had to quit being trainer (i couldnt find any time or energy for my own training nor university nor my girlfriend, i couldnt finish homeworks given me by my tutor, i couldnt study my exams etc.) After i quit tutoring i couldnt afford even 30 usd/ month payment which was i enjoying.

Lets skip background part and get to the advice part. People wont buy your lesson because of your rating (may be if you are 2700+) but you need to proove them you have already planned good training plan you can tailor for individuals. You can solve the things they cant solve by themselves and keeping them stuck. You have to show them your methods are tested and proven and you will need happy customers, players improved their play. You should be able to answer their questions, and even if you believe student x needs to work on their endgames and you want to improve opening of student y in reality student x may want to learn new openings (and still magically increase his elo) and student y thinks he needs to learn how to analysis his own games to improve and expect you to teach this. You have to adapt, and you have to find a magical way to improve their performance a bit (but noticable bit) while keeping their wishes and keeping them happy. Still while doing that there can be unexpected problems in their life may need to delay their lessons or cancel, and they may expect reschedule their lesson to a time (which may not suit to you)

1. Be sure you can handle this properly

2. Be sure you really want to do this, and you will manage your own private life according to the needs of it.

Extraordinary piece of advice.

Thanks so much Xhite I'm aware of the inconveniences on the coach, since it is such a low price I won't be traveling to any student so I'll mostly be online.

@Nevan Sure it is the first lesson

Btw I forgot to mention for each successful referral I give 2hrs just for the price of one.

Why are you charging so low?

Do you have any coaching experience?

Yes. Taken literally, that does seem to be what was said. That's why I asked for clarification, since I'm pretty sure that's not what the OP meant.

chessmaster102

That's not what I meant. I played against both at lower levels using the rating feature of the programs

chessmaster102

@logozar it's only for a limited time, as I achieve more I'll raise the price more. (Not talking about ratings) and yes I have coaching experience.

AussieMatey

You bet he has - he recently went on a touring coach and travelled all around Detroit. Smile

Why is your Bullet Rating 1017 and why are you losing games to Computer EASY?

chessmaster102

if you click on it youll see I havent played bullet in years and I dont like it because I like to take my time. I was part of a challenge to beat computer easy 100 or 1000 times and who ever got there first got a lot of chess.com prizes from the op of that post. Since its more of a race I thought it better to quickly resign and start a new game if I made a mouse slip.

chessmaster102

why not look at my most recent games instead of a challenge I did many months ago. its strange seeing a almost 2200 player try to attack my integrity by going back to a time I was weaker

Omar816

Hi, I'd like to possibly hire you for my nephew, but can we play a game first so I see properly where you stand?
