For lesson 5904 "Some evil Trickery-The Essence of the Initiative" I don't understand the explanation. What does "fails" mean and Nxe8 makes no sense to me because the knight was captured on an ealier move-gxf6. Below is the commentary:
Brilliant! after gxf6 fxe5 white obviously has an irresistable initiative/attack. Rxc1 fails to Nxe8 and Bxf6 fails to Rxc7.
