It's a bug left over from the first generation of CM. You will find some craziness in the original lessons especially. Don't think the lads got paid all that much and some of the early stuff shows it. To be fair I don't think anyone quite knew what to do with the whole "mentoring" concept. Later lessons are generally a bit more polished.
