@ice-cream-cake Incredible!! Wish I could have been there!

Yes, I got lucky that day! But as he is a friend of my co-worker maybe I can push my luck and see if, once the world championship has calmed down, he might come and give a simul to my local team - we are all a bunch of patzers but would be a real coup if i can make it happen ;-)

The next game is going to be insane.

Nepo's really good at forcing draws, isn't he? Bet he does it again in Game 14, so they go to tiebreak, which has a shorter time control. I know Ding said yesterday, in answer to a press conference question, that he would be happy with a 25|10 time control, but I'm not so sure about that. He has so much trouble with time...

I think Ding might have the edge in rapid.

I know he has had some time trouble in this current match, but Ding is capable in short time controls, too.

In the 2021 Speed Chess Championship, for example, he crushed Hikaru in the 3-minute blitz section - 6 to 4.

Ah, I had forgotten that. If it goes to Blitz then Ding can prevail. But 25|10 has a whole different feel to it.

That's true - Rapid is a unique mixture of both. We'll have to see how it all turns out. I'm excited, either way.

One of the many interesting facets of this match is that it features a kings pawn player vs a queens pawn player. Clash of styles, very fun to watch.

CONGRATULATIONS DING!

Nepo looked angry with himself after the game.

Rg6. Who would have thought...Congrats to Ding, grace under pressure.

Congrats to Ding Liren, the new World Champion!

Nepo looks devastated - understandably so ... But Ding thoroughly outplayed him in that final game.

Well done Ding!

Congratulations to Liren Ding. May chess continue to blossom in China.

I like the ending (5/3 blitz games) much better than armageddon. It'll be until a player wins.

Blitz game to decide a classical world championship is a travesty. Even classical armageddon would be better.

It was quite a show and the end will be remembered for a long time. Many congrats to Ding for his victory!
