@Duskrevival: Oh, yes, those were dark days. This was of course the time before I got enlightened by the awesomeness of 1.a4!!. I would never play such a silly opening now.

I just got a letter from GM Magnus Carlsen. I thought I should share it with you, my fellow 1.a4!! comrades.

Hello Sandstreampop,

You are really cool and I wish I was you. Anyway, now that that's out of the way, I have something I need to ask you.

Is it possible for you to teach me this great line that is 1. a4!! ? I have tried to study your PGN files on the Chess forums but I just can't wrap my head around it. The part about forced moves and pancreatic cancer is hard to understand if you've never opened your mind to such great ideas.

Wishing to hear from you soon,

Your #1 fan, GM Magnus Carlsen.

P.S Have you seen this great music video? I think it's gonna be a big hit soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4

Not only does Magnus Carlsen fail to grasp the true great power of 1. a4!!, but he is also seemingly behind on the pop music front.

Magnus Carlsen wouldn't like you making fun of him. He does have an account on this site, so if he wanted, he could report you.

You serious??? He has an account here???

Actually.... I am.

Funny article. What is even more funny is that many people dont understand the joke in this lol.

I know a4 is great but not as great as the brilliant move 1.f3!!! with a 2.Kf2 follow up.

lol

There is a place called Auckland in GB, get your facts right, boy!

Holy smokes! A Christchurch AND an Aukland in Great Britain!! That explains the problem I had last time I was in Manhattan. I jumped in a taxi and said "Aukland! And step on it!" Next thing I knew I was wandering around Heathrow Airport wondering where all the kiwis went.....

I don't know what all the commotion is about. 1.a4 has been a respected opening down through the ages. The great British master Blackburne was a staunch advocate of the move. In fact, he recently came back from the Great Beyond just to prove the merits of 1.a4. Here's his game with one of today's up and coming players:

@theronster456 wow! I didn't know blackburne is still alive! He must made the record of oldest chess player ever! Lolz

There is ACTUALLY an opening which does that!  It's called the Crab Opening!

Okay. Now you can add the last word.

I have yet another success story of the lines you guys have been posting here.

The success just keeps pouring in, I got one more good game:

You have learned well. Your games examplify perfectly the keystones of chess: playing 1. a4!! and developing your king for the endgame as early as you can. Immaculate games!

Dear fellow Chess.com comrades,

It has come to my attention that you have all become victims of a terrible fraud. From what I have been able to gather, most of you believe that 1. e4?? is the best, or at least a very good, opening move.

Well, I am sorry to shatter your beautiful illusion, but 1. a4!! is actually the best move in the whole galaxy, and 1. e4?? the worst. Let me first illustrate why 1. e4?? is clearly the worst move of all moves in the universe:

So now that the 1. e4?? point is proven, let me now reveal to you the true best first move for white in chess: 1. a4!!.

Not only did Winston Churchill force Hitler to lose the World War 2 after beating him in a chess game using 1. a4!!, but it is also rumored that Bobby Fischer lost to an unknown chess virtuoso by the name of Sandstreampop after Fischer, playing black, was met by Sandstreampop's 1. a4!!. Let's have a look at that game.

If you feel dizzy now, do not be alarmed. It is common that you feel faint and confused after your whole world has been turned upside down. But this is really for the best. From now on, I hope you never play 1. e4?? again. I trust you now play the best move in the whole intergalactic space.

You are welcome.

y? he should move the f4?????

that's a useless move

i don't think a4 wll work against touch players

Wait a minute! News Flash! A Stunning Refutation of 1.a4! In a recent high-level competition, the venerable 1a.4 was quickly and convincingly demolished by a new strategy! The game went thus:

If you move your king to the center early, you won't even GET to the endgame!
rsl_paydar

I think you come from MARS !!. I confused because I though all of chess players are logical. !!!

Good day.

You may have a point. Let's see if white's capitulation was premature......
