It is indeed a good opening.  My coach calls it the Jobava Line, but I think it has different names.

It's actually  called Mark's Opening, ever since it was invented.

The Jobava London System

It has been named the Jobava London System by GM Simon Williams aka Ginger GM because Jobava has used this system to beat many grandmasters and really brought it to fruition in the past 20 years .  It is a more aggressive London System because the same pawn structure can be reached with the added advantage of the Queen’s Knight being placed much more actively & eyeing b5 where it can become a monster.  There are a few videos on the Jobava London System on Toutube but I suspect many will be coming as even Magnus Carlson has used this opening.

Jobva london system is the favorite of @rychessmaster1 . He would be proud of you happy.png

I think after 3.Bf4 is lately named Barry Attack opening system.

Is this the Jobava London?

Jobava London indeed.

It's a Jobava London, but with a different sequence of moves. I will call it The Reverse Italian because of the move sequence

"he played this opening"

if youre critiquing years old posts, atleast have proper reading comprehension

playing Nc3 before c4 for white, reminds me of Chigorin type ideas.

it's AWESOME when you find an opening you really click with like i do the hartlaub charlick and mieses gambits. when you find a "perfect opening", it speaks your language and lets you do your thing your way.

darkunorthodox88

its amazing how this idea , was virtually NEVER played until very recently the last 100 years at the gm level despite being completely reasonable. We had a real C pawn obsession that wasnt entirely warranted in the history of chess.
not to say this is quite as good as the queen's gambit. but given that the london , the torre, trompowsky and even the veserov saw occasional play at all master levels, its amazing the jobava london got virtually zero play. Honestly, i think part of the reason is all the creative ways white can get space on the kingside where not fully understood ( be2, g4! is sometimes an idea, if bf5, f3, g4, h4 is another,)

Hi! I would recommend the following setup with Black, especially if you are a Slav player:

This way Black is fighting for the center.

Good luck!

I tĥink this is a Jobava opening. Highly playable. It can often lead to french like position.

black struggles against f3,g4

Hi!

It is true that you cannot avoid that kingside expansion, but I think that after 5. f3, e6 6.g4, Bg6 7. h4, h6, Black´s position is solid and might suit the taste of the typical Slav and/or Caro-Kann player. Engine evaluation is of minimal White advantage (+0.17).

Good luck!

Hi!

Thanks for your comments. When chosing a variation I have great respect to engine eval and also to my personal taste for the position. I play Slav and Caro-Kann so I don´t think that after 4...Bf5 Black has a dificult play, but again this is too personal. I found in my database I played only 4 times the position after 4...Bf5 as Black. In 3 of these games, White chose 5 Nf3 while only once 5. f3 followed by 6. g4. I see that stats favor the latter so I will study it deeeper.

I also played in other game for a kingside fianchetto with 3...g6 with good result.

Best,

as a 2100 you know engine eval doesnt matter so much as how difficult it is for black

Your account will be closed very very soon lmao
