I had my chance to play Ne5 today and it worked out nicely, albeit a bit delayed:

nice game, Ne5 is definitely leads to nice aggressive lines

Today is my office colleague's birthday so I paid him back with his own opening.  This has no heuristic value.  None.  Look for no lessons here.

We played another one this morning too, right after I read one of the front page articles on Nakamura's 1. g6 opening
Yes, I feel better now.

1. e4 c5 2. Bc4?! why? Nc6! 3. Qf3?? please look ahead more than 1 move Nd4!! now white threatens to take the Queen and Nxc2+ followed by Nxa1 so the Queen has to retreat to d1 4. Qd1 after which Black simply has a won game due to these lost tempo moves Nf6 etc. -/+

What about ...Ne5 exchanging off the Bc4; seems logical to me, likely gives equality.

This.

Although I almost always go with 2... e6 vs an early Bc4. Chewing on granite.

Thanks Oz, I'll give Ne5 a shot.  Failing that, I'll fire him.

Reason #6,293 one should never socialize with the boss . . . Cool

?????   Who says anything is wrong with it?  Almost every single person has already said it looked good.

It's far from a won game. White will take a tempo with c3 and have a nice presence in the center

Thanks for taking the time to go through and correct my analysis :p

I'm glad you are enjoying my Surdan impersonification for which I practiced for so long

i also saw Ne5

raider53

...Ne5, then take his bishop. That will throw him for a loop while you develop your pieces.

SnakeInTheSky

I personaly perfer playing 1.e4 c5 2.Bc4 Nc6 3.Qf3 e6 4.Nc3 Nd4 attacking the queen and the d2 pawn . If white dosen't protect it than take the pawn and fork the king and the rook!

1.e4 c5 2.Bc4 Nc6 3.Qf3?! Ne5!

I love the name Capt. Quickmate lol

Ne5 breaks an opening rule, but I’ll try it. People who play the bowdler attack usually don’t really know what they’re doing.
